Rain, Wind and It Starts ...

I have been really looking forward to covering the football state finals. It’s really a shame that the weather will have an effect on these games. You have to consider that the weather the past week has been much better than we could have expected. But we cannot control the weather and it is the same for both teams. My only comment is this – Coaching now comes into to play more than you know. Why? Simple. The wind.

If you have ever been to Giants Stadium on a semi-windy day you know that it becomes very important which Goal you are defending with respect to the wind. Sure, coaches have played on windy days. But making a mistake of not utilizing the wind, maybe a costly mistake. This will affect the Mountain Lakes game he most. You’ll be looking at winds topping 60 mph. I wonder what will happen if lightning comes into play? There is a chance of lightning storms.

The wind is not normally as dramatic at Rutgers, compared to the Meadowlands. Sixty mph winds anywhere have a dramatic effect on any game. Hopefully, the weather will be better than expected.

Winter Sports will officially kick off on Friday.
