Friday Night outlook

Hoops is on the schedule for tonight. Our teacher union will be outside of Hanover and hopefully Whippany homes games today. We’ll be greeting the parents, simply to make sure that they know we care. We are also working without a contract. Not that this has much to so with H.S. sports, but it really does. Teachers are the backbone of the educational environment. We want a fair contract and we want to keep our benefits the way they are.

That being said, I will be at the Hanover Park-Morris Hills Boys basketball game tonight. This should be a great game to cover since both schools can run and gun and enjoy doing it. Chatham travels to Weequahic, another important IHC match-up and a must win for the Cougars who are forced to keep pace with Mendham.

The match-up of the night in Boys Hoops is at Madison. The Panthers come into town coming off a 30 point trouncing at the hands of West Milford. Pequannock (7-2) looks to rebound with a strong performance tonight. Madison comes in at 3-4 and is determined to get back to .500 and continue the revitalization of this season.

Another fun game to watch is at Morristown H.S. where the Colonials host Columbia.

In Girls’ action, Boonton travels a town over to Kinnelon in what could be a Bombers upset. The Colts have been strong and Boonton has to slow the down the quick paced scoring attacks to come out on top. Boonton took a tough 2-point loss at the hands of Lakeland yesterday. Lakeland will be at Butler in a very important NHC match-up. Butler comes in at 8-1, Lakeland improved to 9-1 yesterday.

Morris Hills hosts the 6-1 Hornets. Morris Hills has a knack of knocking off favored teams. Look for a combination of Niemann’s tough 1-3-1 and a strangling man-D to hold Hanover in check. The Hornets will need to dominate the boards and work for good looks in hopes to remain undefeated in the IHC.

Ice Hockey: Chatham and Mtn. Lakes match up again. The Cougars come in undefeated and beat the Lakers 7-1 in their opening game. Both teams have improved since then and it should be a fun one at Mennen. Delbarton looks to get back to heir winning ways against Don Bosco tonight, 8 pm, at the Ice Vault.
