NJ PONY State Tournament 18U


The Rampage 18-and-under team began pool play with two shut out victories over the Livingston Thunder and the Bergen Blazers (Ridgewood). The 18U Rampage finished 2-1 on the day with a loss to the Central Jersey Tornado Elite (Freehold).

In the opening game for the Rampage, Danielle Cecire (Montville & CCM) recorded the victory, fanning 5 and allowing 4 hits. The ex-Montville standout struck out two in the 2nd and worked her way out of a bases-loaded, 1-out jam in the 4th.

The Rampage opened with 5 straight singles in the 1st, opening to a quick 3-0 lead. Raleigh Sperring (Sparta) and Lauren Marczi (Mendham/Swarthmoore) lead off with singles. Casey Roselle (Sparta/Rowen) and Katherine Wilson (Sparta/Ithaca) both doubled to give the host team a 3-0 lead.

From there on, the Rockaway club was held in check until the 5th when Marczi, Roselle and Wilson started the inning with singles. Newton’s Heather Harold (SCCC) doubled and Leslie Martin (DePaul) singles accounting for 3 more Rampage insurance runs.

Mendham’s Lauren Marczi finished 2-for-4. Casey Roselle, Heather Harold also added two hits. Katherine Wilson knocked out three hits on the day including doubles in the 1at and 3rd innings.

Immediately after the 6-0 victory, the Rampage were right back at it and jumped to a 1-0 lead in the 2nd over the Bergen Blazers. Heather Harold doubled to lead off the second. Leslie Martin and Ally Bahneman (Mendham) followed with singles as the Rampage scored the only run needed. Ally Schraer (Paramus) and the Rampage defense deld off the Blazers en route to a 7-0 victory. Schraer fanned five, allowing 6 hits.


The 18U squad finished the day 2-1 and were seeded 4th going into Sunday’s single elimination tournament action and will face the 5th-seeded Bergen Blazer at 9:30 Sunday morning. Top Gun Softball (Monroe Township) earned the #1 seed going undefeated and not allowing a run.
