MCT Boys Preview

(16 – Boonton & 17 - Morris Catholic) vs. 1 - Par Hills

Boonton came out of the gates on fire. The Bombers were 3-0 to start the season and 5-3 in their first eight, although one of those losses was a forfeit during the Pequannock Christmas tournament. Many prognosticators expected more from Morris Catholic. The Crusaders have recently upended Pingry 57-46 improving to 6-8. This should be a very closely contended game, but potent Matias Roibal will be key to Bombers victory. Prediction: Bombers

(9 - Mtn Lakes & 24 – Butler) vs. 8 – Roxbury

The Bulldogs have been struggling all season and the Lakers will be another tough obstacle. Mountain Lakes has won five of the past 6 going into University. Look for the Lakers to move on. Prediction: Mountain Lakes

(12 - Hanover Park & 21- Morris Knolls) vs. 5 - Mo-Beard

Hornets were up by double digits before the Eagles made a fourth quarter comeback in December. Matt Shellenhamer will be able to compliment Steve Frankowski and give the Hornets a second victory over the Iron Division foe. Prediction: Hanover Park

(13 – Pequannock & 20 – Parsippany) vs. 4 – Delbarton

Pequannock started off 6-0 and has since dropped six of the last seven. Pequannock needs to get back to early season form if they have any chance to advance against the Hills Division opponent. Parsippany, also on a slide, has lost four straight coming in to the week. One thing for sure, the winner of this game needs to step it up if they plan on giving Delbarton a game. Prediction: Pequannock

(14 – Kinnelon & 19 - West Morris) vs. 3 – Chatham

The Highlanders ran into a bulldozer in their schedule over the past 3 games, East Orange, Columbia and Seton Hall are all state powerhouses. The Highlanders are capable of some great things, but have only managed 4 wins during a rough schedule. The Colts are on fire and have won 6 of their last 9, including a 9-point victory over Boonton and a close loss to University. West Morris’ harsh schedule will prepare them for this match up. Prediction: West Morris

(11 – Madison & 22 - Dover) vs. 6 – Randolph

Madison may not be happy with their record thus far, but if one thing can make a season, it’s a run in the County Tournament. Dover has show signs that they can pull an upset, but Madison is ready to make some noise. Prediction: Madison

(10 - Morris Hills & 23 - Whippany Park) vs. 7 – Morristown

The Scarlet Knights guards will have to outscore Ashok Vegesna and Ricky Growe. Morris Hills can put point at will and the Wildcats will have to play exceptional defense to shut down Katz and Dudek. Prediction: Morris Hills

(15 -Mt. Olive & 18 - Montville) vs. 2 – Mendham

Montville has notched wins against Madison and Parsippany. The Mustangs needs to be on top of their game against the Marauders. Mount Olive has already beaten Roxbury (the 8 seed) and plays a very tough schedule. Prediction: Mt. Olive
