Mt. Olive’s Archer Perfect

Rockaway, NJ - Jen Biondi (Morris Knolls), Emily Archer, Krystle Mazza (Hopatcong) all contributed with two hits a piece as the Rampage Black improved to 25-5 on the 2007 Summer Season. Emily Archer threw a perfect game and struck out 8 in the 6-inning, 6-0 Pool Play game. The Rockaway based team belted out eight hits in the victory over the NJ Mystics (Netcong). Mazza and Biondi doubled for the only extra base hits of the game. The Rampage-Black 16-and-under squad finished 3-0 on the day and did not allow a run, defeating the NJ Crush (South Plainfield) and the Clifton Cobras.

While Archer kept most batter from putting the in play, a bit of swift defense helped preserve the perfect game. Shortstop Jen Biondi made a spectacular catch for the 1st out of the 6th. With a hit looper hit into that ever-popular dead zone between short, left and center, Biondi showcased an over-the-shoulder grab much to the delight of the her teammates.

The Rampage-Black enter today’s tournament play as the #1 seed and look to take their 3rd tournament in as many weeks. The previous wins were at West Point and last week’s 9th annual Rampage Tournament also held in Rockaway.
