From Tuesday

Bowling – from Coach Ortiz at Chatham

Only one more day to go....

Yesterday, the CHS varsity bowling team advanced into the final round of the NJBL play-off tournament. The team defeated Seton Hall Prep, 5-2. The finals are tomorrow against Morris Knolls. This team has achieved so much this year!! The high scores for yesterday were:
Chris Schneider with a 213, Captain Jim Chatterton with a 201 and 218, and Ian Lerner with a 222 and a 202.

Hanover Park 55 (10-2), Mendham 54 (10-4)

Mendham was in control late in the second quarter when Hanover closed the half with 9-0 run to take a 1-point lead into the locker room. The Hornet scored the next 6 point of the 3rd quarter and lead by as many as 9 before Mendham mounted a strong 4th quarter comeback. The Minutemen trailed by 4 with under a minute left to play. A three by Brezden VanOrden and a two gave Mendham the one point lead with about 16 seconds to play.

Hanover broke the 1-3-1 press, crossed half court and called time out with about 8 seconds to play. The inbounds play went to Lindsey Cassinis. Cassinis scored the game-winning basket with 1.8 seconds. (that 1.8 remaining.

The Hanover win and a Chatham victory over West Essex really mixed things up in the IHC-Hills. The Hornets have one loss and West Essex, Chatham and Mendham all have 2. It should be a great race to the end.

Hanover Park (10-2) 9 17 20 9 -- 55
Mendham (10-4) 12 15 13 14 -- 54
